Dragon Tattoos: How many tattoos do you have?
I have one on the upper-right side of my back. It is a picture of a dragon wrapped around an iron rod and there is Japanese writing. The writing means strength, together and underneath it says "Iseri," which is my mom's maiden name. That's the side of the family I'm closest to. Significance?
Well, you might not be able to tell by looking at me, but I am actually a quarter Japanese. In Japanese cultures the dragon is the lord of the skies. It is the perfect symbol of power and benevolence.
How did you come up with the design for your tattoo?
When I decided I wanted a tattoo, I knew I wanted a dragon because my older brother and sister both have dragons as well. We all planned on having dragons and our family crest so that we would all have similar tattoos that were personal to each of us.

Mark, as in owner of several Des Moines businesses, and mark as in tattoo artist.Ramey, 37, is owner of two Sacred Skin tattoo and piercing shops - one in Clive, one on the south side of Des Moines - and he is working on opening a third tattoo shop in the Shops at Roosevelt on 42nd Street in Des Moines. Adding to that, he is also an owner of the Liars Club, a lounge and dance club on Court Avenue that opened earlier this year.
Ramey's enthusiasm is evident when he talks about his vision for his tattoo business. So is his frustration with people who don't share his view that tattooing and piercing are body art. He points out that many magazines carry photos of models sporting designer clothes and a tattoo.
Sparks' musical fire grows on strength of 'Idol' win
Dragon Tattoos: Her 18th birthday isn't until Dec. 22, but trust us: This year, Jordin Sparks is going to be tough to shop for. She's already the youngest winner of "American Idol," and her self-titled album comes out Tuesday. Her first single, "Tattoo," has steadily climbed to No. 27 on Billboard's Hot 100 list. She's been dressed by Badgley Mischka. She's met Diana Ross. Steve Jobs personally gave her an iPhone.
Tattoo shop owner has ink in her veins
Dragon Tattoos: Candy Roberts is covered from head to toe with the marks of her trade. Every inch of her that's outside her clothing is inked with tattoos. And she assures you that the majority of the skin beneath her clothes is covered too.
Roberts runs Baby Blues Tattoos, with two locations in Bradenton.
She's a walking advertisement for her trade - a business and art she says is often misunderstood.
"Everyone thinks tattoos are just for the kids or people who ride motorcycles," Roberts says. "But we have doctors, lawyers. Everyone is getting tattoos."
Tattoo artists sometimes get a rap for being an unsavory crew.
But Roberts runs her business in a responsible and ethical way, she says.
"Every day of the week we have people who bring in their 14-, 15- and 16-year-old children to get them tattooed," Roberts says.
